Government Health Act 2006
Smoke-free premises, places and vehicles.
A No Smoking Ban is to be enforced in 2007 throughout England, N. Ireland & Wales in all public premises, places & vehicles. A minimum A5 size sign must be displayed at public entrances of buildings and need to state: 'It is against the law to smoke on these premises'.
Penalties
£200 fixed penalty for failure to display signs.
£50 fixed penalty for smoking on smoke-free premises.
£2500 maximum penalty for failing to prevent smoking on smoke-free premises.
Dates
Wales & Northern Ireland ban enforced: 2nd April 2007
England ban enforced: 1st July 2007
Scotland ban introduced: 26th March 2006
Ireland ban introduced: 29th March 2004
